Cigarettes behind damage spree, say police

BARRIE POLICE SERVICE

*************************
Barrie Police were quickly on the tail of a male who was on a rampage after he could not get cigarettes from his step-mother.

On Monday, May 23, 2016 at 9:22 p.m. police were called to a residence on Fox Run, in the City of Barrie, in regards to a male who was trying to break in and damaging property around the outside of the house.

The male was apparently angry his step-mother would not give him cigarettes so he [is alleged to have] kicked the front door, ripped off the doorbell, kicked the driver’s side door of a vehicle in the driveway, ripped down security cameras, threw a glass table which caused to shatter, tipped over a BBQ, and ripped the screens of the patio windows.

He then fled on foot after he couldn't get in the house, just before police arrived.

The 23-year-old Barrie male was located a short time later and placed under arrest for mischief under $5,000.

He also had a warrant on file for Mischief from damages done to a North Street address from Wednesday, May 18, 2016.

He was held at Barrie Police Service overnight for a bail hearing.
