180 Smoke – Toronto vape retailer of e-cigarettes and e-juices announced a giveaway of free rechargeable kits to anyone visiting the store and willing to dump their last pack of tobacco cigarettes (June 1st-7th).To protest against proposed ontario bill 45 that equates vaping to smoking, the company is giving free kits to Toronto smokers willing to dump their last pack at the store.
The company says that giving the kit for free is a way to reassure smokers on the fence that they have nothing to lose except their last pack of smokes. Giving up their pack of cigarettes also serves as a sign of their commitment to the process. The collected cigarettes will be used to create an art project.
“I believe that the proposed regulations are misguided and centered over lost tobacco revenue and taxes.
Even the harshest critic agrees that ecigarettes are magnitudes safer compared to burning processed tobacco,” says Boris Giller, cofounder, adding “the complete ban on promotion and prohibiting retailers from providing customer support for device usage creates a situation that fosters ongoing smoking.
There is clear evidence that dedicated customer support leads to better adoption. Calling an act that restricts a proven tobacco harm reduction tool ‘Making Healthier Choices’ is a cruel joke.”
Not only is the initial kit free but an average 1 pack a day smoker at $10 per pack would save over $3,650 per year when switching to vaping, making it an attractive alternative.Vaping with ejuice approximately 7x cheaper than Tobacco cigarettes. In 2014 this translated into 92 to 220 million dollars in savings for 180 smoke clients and resellers.
In addition, last year 180 smoke helped Canadians not smoke an estimated 200 million cigarettes based on the amount of ejuice
sold. Not only does this means less cigarette butts polluting the environment, but this also translates to saving of approximately 620,000 trees. With initiatives like this they hope to triple the number in 2015.
180 smoke invites smokers to learn more first hand, taste the various flavours and to find what works for them. Vape consultants will be available to answer questions and demonstrate
products.
The giveaway will take place in the following locations:
