Details of Amanda Blackburn investigation revealed

NDIANAPOLIS, Ind. —Indianapolis station WTHR is reporting details revealed in a probable cause affidavit connected with burglaries and an assault that left Amanda Blackburn dead.

{Warning -- some of the information below is graphic and may be disturbing to some viewers.}

Some of the new details that are emerging from the probable cause documents:

-- The front door to the Blackburns' home had been left open that morning

-- Amanda Blackburn had been assaulted as well as shot several times, but police couldn't find evidence of a sexual assault

-- Davey Blackburn was on the phone with a friend when he returned home from the gym that morning, but remained in the car talking for nearly an hour before he went inside and discovered Amanda suffering from gunshot and other wounds
-- Police found a receipt for a denied $500 withdrawal from a Chase

AT M on Michigan Rd. in the stolen Sebring, with the last four digits of the card on the receipt matching those of Amanda Blackburn's missing card

Prosecutors say Blackburn died from a gunshot wound to the head. She also had a gunshot wound to her lower left arm which traveled up her biceps, and another gunshot wound that entered and exited her upper back. Blackburn had scratches on her left cheek, a split lip and a lower tooth knocked out.

WTHR reported that police found a Swisher Sweet cigar package on the counter of the Blackburn home, something Davey Blackburn said shouldn't have been in his house.

Amanda Blackburn was found nude with her underwear next to her and her shirt pulled up "as if someone tried to pull it off." But police say "it was not clear" she had been sexually assaulted. At this point there are no charges being filed related to sexual assault.

Her credit cards and wallet were found on the floor near her body, but her bank card was missing. Police discovered a voicemail from Chase bank questioning an attempted withdrawal from a cash machine on Michigan Road that morning.

Video surveillance from the Chase Bank ATM showed a man pull up in a Sebring, wearing a pink garment wrapped around his face. A pink sweater stolen in one of the early morning burglaries was later found in the recovered Sebring. The burglary victim confirmed it was her sweater. She had no connection to the suspects. A second withdrawal for $400 was successful.

Police say a saliva test on the sweater matched that of Jalen Watson. That break in the case led police to Watson and a third man, Diano Gordon, who is on parole for burglary.

Police traced cell phone data on the morning of the burglaries and shooting that led them to Taylor, Watson and Gordon. An unnamed tipster told police that the three men "wanted more money" so they went in search of homes to burglarize.

According to court documents, Taylor told Watson, Gordon and two others that he killed Amanda Blackburn because she "charged at him."

The documents said Taylor shot her in the upper body so he would not be scratched. Taylor then allegedly told his cohorts that "he leaned over her body and shot her in the back of the head. He leaned further, looked at her face, and watched her bleed.
